Porcelain Surfaces

Porcelain panels and forms treated as both surface and canvas — textured, painted, or inlaid with ceramic materials. Shifts of colour and form reveal how light and touch interact across a plane.

About the Work: Helen’s exploration of her signature Lenticular Porcelain marked a turning point during her MA at the Royal College of Art. Building on her product roots with trompe l’œil ceramics that questioned plastic use (Yoyo Ceramics), she advanced the idea of visual trickery through high-fired porcelain. By blending screen printing with coloured clay, Helen captures shifting textures that recall woven fabric or digital data. Her work plays with scale—macro to miniature—revealing how light, touch, and context transform material into illusion.
